BASKETBALL: SUPERLEAGUE WEEKEND ROUNDUP

Sport Express brings all the results of the Russian men’s Superleague matches held this weekend.


Krasnye Krylya vs. Khimki – 59:69
(22:13, 10:19, 17:17, 10:20)

Best players: in Krasnye Krylya – Flores (14), Zelensky (10); in Khimki – Fridzon (21), McCarty (14), Mozgov (11).

Samara showed great resistance to one of the leaders of the Russian basketball. They played without injured Bremer but had all the chances for success till the middle of the fourth quarter.

Only McCarty and Fridzon were showing their game and Khimki had it hard to outplay Krylya after several losses.

"The game was difficult," said the head coach of Khimki Sergio Scariolo. "Krasnye Krylya is performing better and better and it is very hard to win them."

"But luckily in the second half we pulled ourselves together and good defensive game helped us to achieve success."

CSKA vs. Enisey – 89:80 (28:17, 24:21, 22:26, 15:16)

Best players: in CSKA – Langdon (16), Ponkrashov (15), Kurbanov (14), Mensah-Bonsu and Kaun (both – 11); in Enisey – Chalmers (15), Kambala and Komarovsky (14), Demeshkin (10).

The coaches of the Army men let one of their leaders Ramunas Siskauskas rest for this match. And his replacement in the starting five Anton Ponkrashov had his best match this season.

The whole game was tuned by those players of the Moscow team who do not have much playing time throughout the season – Mensah-Bonsu, Kurbanov who scored five out of eight field throws. At the same time the famous sniper Holden have not looked at the basket once for 23 minutes on the court.
